Situated right at the heart of Kovalam Village, Hotel Blue Sea is like a sanctuary enshrined in idyllic surroundings. A 75 year old typical colonial house forms the nucleus of the Hotel complex.

Hotel Blue sea is a large cool and colonial Kerala home with a typical central courtyard. This building was once the residence of a local squire. Two of his grandsons Sabu and Saji converted it adding bathrooms, a swimming pool and six circular cottages having twelve identical circular rooms among the green parakeets and mynahs in the coconut grove at the back.

The hotel is a homely seaside resorts ideal for women children and aged people. Children will be looked after with extra care, and one of the owners of the hotel would entertain them with magic tricks and lessons.

All the rooms of this traditional Kerala 'home' have been refurbished with western toilets. The largest room in this building has a balcony offering a spectacular view of the greenery of the place. The roof - top temple room is another attraction with a large terrace around in the midst of superb scenic beauty.

The recently built circular cottages beside the large swimming pool make, the place unique and outstanding. There are six cottages, presently two storied, providing 12 identical rooms with 6 ft. wide circular Verandah around.

Each room has 1200 square ft. carpet area and the floor in paved with teak wood. All the rooms have modern toilets and all are air - conditioned. Health care

On the holistic health field, there are facilities to learn Yoga in its finest quality, to have Ayurvedic massages and Reiki treatments. Arrangements can also be made to learn the required levels of Reiki and other healing modalities.

Yoga
Yoga, the science of man, based on ancient Indian wisdom and culture, is an art of living a healthy, balanced, peaceful and contented life. Yoga, being a total integrated system, studies man in his wholeness - body, mind and spirit and is integrated to certain principles, ideas, values, attitudes and a way of life for personal and social benefits.

Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the traditional healing science of India. This is an age-old holistic medicine which emphasizes relaxed mind-body harmony, keeping pace with the laws of NATURE. As Modern medicine with its strong synthetic chemical drugs fails to combat nature, there is rapid & progressive acceptance in the world over this natural medicine. The whole world is desperately looking for new lifestyles that include healthy diet, stress-free careers, happy lasting relationship & for a relaxed mind-body harmony side-lining the laws of nature. "Back to nature" concept lands here only.

Entertainment

Various programmes are organized to entertain the guest and to make them familiar with the fairs and festivals of the ‘God’s own country’. The Padma Travels which is part of the hotel, takes care of all your travel requirements including sight - seeing tours and back - water trips. Entertainments include Kathakali performance, catamaran riding and fishing, elephant riding and stay in houseboats.

Ponmudi Hill Resort
(70 Kms.) - which arises from the foot of a thick tropical forest. You can enjoy the breath-taking views, Avian Orchestra etc.

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple  - the grandiose seven-storied structure. It is adorned by innumerable intricate stone carvings, both interior and exterior. This temple is the city's most impressive landmark.

Napier Museum - A gorgeous building confluence of India, with Chinese, Mughal and British influences. The campus also houses the Art and Natural History Museum, the Sri Chitra Art Gallery and Zoological and Botanical gardens etc.

There are short - cuts to both the beaches of Kovalam, with just 5 minutes' walk to reach the beach. The hotel is managed and run by Saji and Sabu two brothers belonging to the lineage of famous ancestral family of Kovalam. They are available to look after the comforts of the guests round the clock.

"Illicit stills, chair - bearing carioes and raffles drawn by an elephant greeted Saw Llewellyn in Kerala, southern India. But they couldn't compare with Sabu, the Mozart of hotel managers".
Set among a labyrinth of tiny orchards of mango and banana in the southern Indian state of Kerala, Hotel Blue Sea at Kovalam works according to a raga - like rhythm all of its own.
Hotel Blue Sea is a large cool and colonial Kerala home with a typical central courtyard. This eccentric building was once the residence of a local squire. Two of his grandsons Sabu and Saji converted It adding bathrooms, a swimming pool and six circular cottages having twelve identical circular rooms among the green parakeets and mynahs in the coconut grove at the back.
The Blue Sea contains two of the funkiest rooms in hoteldom - The Balcony Room, which has a shady balcony bigger than mm many drawing, rooms, and the Roof Room, effectively a Kerala home 60 ft. in the air. Here you can lead the life of a maharaja to the true sense of the term.

My own favourite is the mildly eccentric Hotel Blue Sea, once the family home of the two brothers who run it, about five minutes back from the beach.  Their rooftop room (£ 25 a night), Where I lived like a rajah (apart from the temperamental plumbing), is the best place in which I have stayed for years, and fonfirms my long - held article of faith that for real service it's either the super de luxes of the simple family - owned places which do you best.  And the hotel even has a large pool.

"Our two young children are still talking about your fabulous Hotel, your fine healthy food suited their taste and ours. We all loved the hammocks and pool. Such a solace after the Busy, Noisy beach !. The elephant ride was the high (!) point but you and your brother made the whole experience so magical …………we will be back".
